Silence
A musical play inspired by ideas of John Cage
For children aged 6 and up
“Wherever we are, what we hear is mostly noise. When we ignore it, it disturbs us. When we listen to it, we find it fascinating.”
—John Cage
Composer John Cage remained curious like a child throughout his life. He wrote a "silent" piece of music and showed that there's actually no such thing as silence, but that many sounds are hidden in it. He equipped the strings of the piano with screws and erasers to create new sounds, he played music with everyday objects, never losing his sense of humor, and left many things up to chance. He provided a stage for the creative human spirit, which is perfect for a child to rediscover and playfully shape art and everyday life over and over again. “SILENCE or how I sound out of the window” is a play with strange sounds and familiar noises, off-key notes, and hidden adventures... and also a little bit about growing older.Performance & Music: Michael Habelitz, Lea Kallmeier, Manuel Loos, Maria Trautmann
